Mandaram City
Mandaram Nuwara is a small village located at the foot of the highest mountain in Sri Lanka, Pidurutalagala in the Central Province of the country. Also known as the "Misty City" as a result of the shadow cast by the adjoining mountains, most of the day is completely covered in fog. On a short and easy walk you will find Kolapathana Ella, a popular waterfall among visitors to the small village.

From Kandy to Pada-Pelella. Buses are available from Padiya-Palella to Mandara every 45 minutes
If you are traveling from Colombo, you should take a bus from Petta bus stand to Kandy and get off at Good Shed bus stand (4 hours) in Kandy and then take a bus to Padapella (1 hour).
There is a bus from Padiyapella to Mandalam at 10.45 am.

A brief idea about Mandaramnuwara
With the morning mist and the interruption of nature, Mandaram Nuwara is situated in the middle of a beautiful land where the concept of time is of no concern at all. Legends weaving through the junction at the foot of Paduruthalagala. It is a popular belief that the village was known as 'Mandaram Pura'. It was used as a hiding place during the Kandyan Kingdom
The soil, blessed with the abundance of nature, is extremely fertile. Green patches of systematically planted leeks, carrots and beans are part of your peripheral view as you explore the pine village. The call of the birds will resonate with the mist-covered hills above.
The land of Mandaram is littered with many streams of water rushing down a rocky path of various shapes and sizes. The inevitable urge to jump into clear natural pools and blend in with the serenity of nature is undeniable.

Kabaragala Ella
Our hunt began with Kabara-gala Ella. The journey to this waterfall was through the Kabara-gala tea estate. Due to this well maintained tea condition the environment was well nourished and peaceful to look at. . The road that takes us through the state of tea is not good for a car, so you should go in a vehicle with more land area. As soon as you reach the waterfall you will be amazed by the amazing view of the hidden gem.
The water was very clear and the ice was cold so we decided to just dive in rather than take a shower. So we spend some good hours enjoying the environment and taking pictures. The Department of Wildlife Conservation of Sri Lanka is the authority that looks after this waterfall. Therefore, they do not allow any visitor to dispose of garbage or other pollutants that are harmful to the environment. So be sure to reduce the number of plastic items you carry on display. Hundreds of wildflowers bloom around the falls as a reflection of this less polluted environment, adding another amazing look to the waterfall
After refreshing our souls from Kabara-gala Ella, we begin our journey towards the 2nd beauty of Mandarm. This road is not suitable for a low road clearing vehicle as the road to Elamulla Ella is also blocked. We walked along a road that ran through a tea kingdom. The cold wind gave us the cold and excitement to find our next hidden treasure.
Elamulla Ella / Ethiniwela Ella
This unregistered Ethniwela Ela (Elamulla Ela) waterfall is located in Mandaramnuwara and can be reached from Padiyapellella. This entrance is hidden from any access road and is located about 90 meters above Mandaramnawara Road near the bridge. 6.3 miles away. This waterfall flows through a rocky slope of about 45 degrees. The vertical height of this waterfall is about 16 meters
Entering this waterfall means that the stream rises from the point where it crosses the Mandaramnuwara road. The distance is about 90 meters. It is recommended to seek guidance from a villager on the way to this waterfall. Unfortunately a small hydroelectric power plant has been built above the waterfall and its best view can only be seen during the rainy season.
Kolapathana Ella
Mandaramnuwara is a small ancient village located in the Nuwara Eliya District. It is located at the foothills of Paduruthalagala in the Hanguranketha area at an altitude of 1250 m above sea level. Kolapathana Ella is a large waterfall located in Mandaramnuwara.
This small town can be reached from Padapella by following the Mandaram Kandy Road for 12 km on a narrow and winding road.
To reach the waterfall, take the Mandaram Nuwara Road from Padapella to Mandaram Nuwara. This road has public transportation. Once you reach Mandaram, walk about 500 meters to Udayala Maha Vidyalaya (School) until you reach the old tea factory. The form here is another 500m on the concrete paved road and turn right at the junction. This road is about 200 meters long.
Lorries collecting vegetables from farmers still travel. To reach this waterfall, which is about 1500 meters above sea level, you have to walk another 2 km along unpaved footpaths. Mandaram is located 1250 m above sea level.
Access to this fall will require guidance from the Mandaram city area, so it will be easy to get lost in the jungle without a clear mapped path to fall. This waterfall is not listed in the LCWF database.
Camping
Mandaram is a popular camping destination as the scenery in the mountains is indescribable. Residents who facilitate the accommodation option will also have access to a camping location, which will be accessible via a short hike and every meal will be prepared for campers. An onsite toilet also adds to the convenience of the place.
Natural Pools
There are many natural pools along the path that runs through the waterfall, which provides endless swimming pools. A word of caution, because of the temperature of the water it will not freeze but will feel completely refreshing.
